30 Fun & Creative Date Ideas for Married Couples

The best piece of marriage advice I’ve ever heard is “never stop dating your spouse.” Having a successful and loving marriage takes work! Regular dating creates lasting memories, improves communication and helps you both grow together. Keeping the romance alive is important and by dating each other on a regular basis you fuel the fire that brought you together in the first place.

Mr. Miller and I both work during the week and we spend almost every evening together. But after working all day we don’t always feel like doing much other than dinner and watching TV. We usually do our own things on Saturday. He’s at the flea market selling his vinyl decals (Geeky Stickers) and I’m off having my own me time. We both decided that Sunday’s would be our fun day or “date time” together and that we would alternate coming up with ideas on how to spend that day each week. We haven’t been really successful in doing that thus far so I figured why not make a list and maybe help someone else out with some date ideas too.

Most of these date ideas are fairly inexpensive and will hopefully be a lot of fun! The weekend is upon us, which means it’s the perfect time to give one of these ideas a try.

30 Fun & Creative Date Ideas for Married Couples

  1. Go to a flea market and find the most meaningful, but least expensive gift you can find for each other.

  10. Go on a picture scavenger hunt (this could be fun as a group date). Make up a list of items to capture on camera, and the team with the most pictures at the end of an hour (or however long you decide) wins. Think of things like: a man wearing a green shirt, a specific book, a street sign that starts with a specific letter, or a person walking their dog. Meet up for dinner after the time is up and see who won!
  11. Drive somewhere you’ve never been, just because. Drive, talk, and see something new.
  12. Wander through an antique store and come up with stories for some of the interesting treasures you find.
  13. Be tourists for the date. Go sightseeing in your city. Stop by places you pass by often, but never go into.
  14. Go on a tour of a local brewery or winery.
  15. Take a free class at your library or community center in something neither of you are good at.
  16. Feed ducks at your local park. Give them names and try to remember them later.
  17. Play Scrabble with made up words, where you have to make up definitions for them.
  18. Make up a new holiday. Make up a tradition and a meal and celebrate it each year.
  19. Make a new recipe together.
  20. Check out a local band.
  21. Take a couples cooking class.
  22. Play a round (or two) of mini golf.
  23. Attend a high school football game.
