  • One Year Ago Today I Married My Best Friend

One year ago today I married my best friend. It’s often said that the first year of marriage is the hardest. I haven’t found that to be true at all. That’s not to say that marriage isn’t work, because it is. Take a journey with me as I reminisce a little and share some things I’ve learned during our first year of marriage.

  • Photography: Bud, Karen, Logan & Charleigh

I’ve known Bud and Karen for at least 20 years I think. They’ve been friends with a friend of mine’s parents forever and they really are two of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet. I remember Logan from when he was just a wee little thing, but just met Charleigh for the first time when we did the pictures and she is a doll! Check out some of the photos from their session.

  • Is 40 the new “F Word”? And I don’t mean fabulous.

My 40th birthday is in less than a month. July 17th to be exact and I’ve been on an emotional roller coaster ride. I fight with anxiety on a regular basis, as well as occasional bouts of depression and the thought of turning 40 is amplifying them both. I’m finding myself contemplating the meaning of life and at the same time wondering what is so fabulous about turning 40?

  • Father’s Day, Plus a German Chocolate Cake Recipe!

My Dad, Donna, and I, along with their friends Jimmy and Nancy, went out for Mexican food for Father’s Day yesterday. Copious amounts of Mexican food was consumed, my Dad got a cook book signed by Jacques Pepin, and I made him his favorite cake – German Chocolate. My Nanny used to make him this cake for him on his birthday. My Nanny is no longer with us, so I’ve been carrying on the tradition by making it for his birthday and Father’s Day. The recipe is no secret. It’s actually a very well known German Chocolate recipe found on the back of the Baker’s German’s sweet chocolate box. Keep reading to check out the printable recipe!

My Dad has always been a constant presence in my life and I’ve always considered myself extremely lucky for that. We have always had a great relationship and he has always been there for me when I needed him.
