  • Restaurant Review: Gilbert’s Social

A few days ago an article titled “The Soul Food Restaurants of Jacksonville” popped up in my Facebook feed. Number 3 on this list was Gilbert’s Social owned by Chef Kenny Gilbert. I am obsessed with Top Chef and immediately recognized the name. Chef Gilbert was a favorite of mine from the very first episode of Season 7 and I had no clue he had a restaurant here in Jacksonville. I couldn’t contain my excitement and advised Mr. Miller that we would definitely be going sometime soon. Sometime soon ended up being this past Saturday. Mr. Miller and I went, along with our friend Amanda. Continue reading for my review of Gilbert’s Social.

  • Ipsy Glam Bag: July

This month’s Ipsy bag is the cutest so far! It’s a “sleepy, super chill cartoon egg” spreading lazy summer vibes. Even though I don’t used all of the products in each bag, I’m still finding it worth the $10 per month based on the lip balm and nail polish alone. I’m no beauty product expert, but I’m loving the quality of the items I’ve been receiving. Check out the products I received in this months bag!

  • Tortitude: Life with a Tortoiseshell Cat

Tortoiseshell cats have a very distinctive personality and have what many people describe as “tortitude”. They are almost always female (male torties are rare), they’re fiercely independent, feisty, unpredictable, and in my experience so far, very talkative (meowing, hissing, etc). Life with a tortoiseshell cat is much different from that of other domestic cats. Continue reading to learn a little about what life has been like so far with my crazy tortoiseshell, Boo Radley.

  • One Year Ago Today I Married My Best Friend

One year ago today I married my best friend. It’s often said that the first year of marriage is the hardest. I haven’t found that to be true at all. That’s not to say that marriage isn’t work, because it is. Take a journey with me as I reminisce a little and share some things I’ve learned during our first year of marriage.
