Where on Earth is that Poky Little Puppy?

One of my all time favorite books as a child was The Pokey Little Puppy. Around Christmastime last year I was telling my husband how much I loved the book and that if we ever had children it would be the very first book I’d buy.

Christmas Day came and when I opened my gifts, among them was a copy of The Poky Little Puppy. It was such an incredibly sweet gesture and further proved that my husband really does listen to me! It will go in the books as one of my all time favorite Christmas gifts.

In case you don’t know, here’s a brief synopsis of the book:

The Poky Little Puppy digs out of his yard with his siblings and always lags behind observing different things when they go out to play. His siblings are scolded when they get home and don’t get dessert, but the Poky Little Puppy ends up making it home last and eats up all the dessert. After being scolded a few times his siblings make it home before him and cover up the home under the fence and are rewarded by their mother with strawberry shortcake. When the Poky Little Puppy finally makes it home this last time he has to dig out the hole to get back in and his mother scolds him and sends him to bed without dessert.

So adorable and a reminder to always listen to your mother! This book now has a permanent place on my shelf and I even inscribed it with my name because why wouldn’t I?

What are some favorite books from your childhood? Have you passed any down to your children?

As always, thanks for reading and have a fabulous Friday!
