There aren’t enough days in the weekend

Here lately between lack of sleep and back pain I’ve been having a heck of a time. Insomnia has been plaguing me the past few weeks and the older I get the more my body rebels against me by letting me know what I can and cannot do. In my younger years I would stay up until 2 or 3 in the morning or pull an all night and still be able to function fine the next day. Now? Not so much.

Saturday morning my eyes popped open at 4am, so I decided to get up, go to the bathroom and get something to drink thinking that I would fall right back asleep after. Yeah, that didn’t happen and I was wide awake. I had to get up at about 6am anyway to go pick up my Mom and then go meet my sister-in-law so I could do her maternity pictures. (I can’t wait to put them on the blog!) After the pictures my Mom and I did a little shopping and after only about an hour and a half of rest had to leave to go to a paint party.

The paint party was a lot of fun and was good quality time spent with my Mom, but my sign looked like a hot mess with globbed up paint and a jacked up letter “g” in the upper right corner. My Mom’s ended up looking amazing!

My sign from the paint party. It’s an ugly mess.

My Mom’s sign looking all gorgeous!

I didn’t end up getting home until around 9:30 and after being up for over 17 hours I was about to fall over from exhaustion. Mike and I were originally going to have our friends Brandon and Karen over on Sunday for dinner but the thought of having to get up early Sunday morning to make the house presentable was a bit too daunting. Mike can only do so much to help me right now because he’s still healing from his surgery so we decided to go out to eat with them instead.

We all met up at a Mexican restaurant in Mandarin that has quickly become our favorite. It’s called Don Juan’s and if you’re local (Jacksonville) you should definitely check it out. Great Mexican food, reasonable prices and it’s always best when shared with great friends!

Sunday night was spent recovering from the events of the weekend, in the recliner editing pictures, making a grocery list, preparing myself for the week ahead and reminding myself that my body is not as young as it once was.

So, that was my exciting and exhausting weekend, how was yours? Thanks for reading and I hope Monday is treating you well!

Until next time…..
